Challenge: Self-Portrait III (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Nikon D70
Location: Webster, NY
Date: Feb 10, 2005
Aperture: f/16
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/12
Date Uploaded: Feb 10, 2005

Very little post processing done here. Tweaked curves and sharpening in Bibble 4.1, adjusted custom white balance. Exported to JPG, then performed final downsample to 640 px and clean-up sharpening.

Taken on an extremely snowy day... In fact, we had just received about 6" of the fresh stuff. I've been wanting to do this shot for a while, so regardless of how it fares in the challenge, I'm pleased that I finally "made it happen"!

Cool and meeting the challenge. This is equivalent to single side lighting where only one side is discernable. The trees do creat an interesting frame within a frame. bumping up.

the beautiful vibrant blue and snow patch draw the attention down , the image cropped to a square would draw the viewer towards the serious regard of the face ; I like the contrast of the tree bark patterns and the skin , and the elusiveness of the face

Interesting...the light on your face is a little dark. My eye is drawn to the snow and blue jacket at the base, rather than the face.

Good idea...but I would crop in tighters and forget the snow...there is not enough of it and it appears disturbed...nicer with undisturbed snow IMO. I would brighten up your face..as it seems you are a bit shy. Thanks for sharing. Roxane

A good idea. I think that a tighter crop without the snow would have increased the impact. Snow can be very dificault to deal with in photographs and in this photograph it distracts from the main subject.
