This photograph was taken at the Fourth Street Garage in San Jose, California. The glass panes enclosing the steps created a prism, casting a rainbow across one step.

I took this photo in RAW mode, then adjusted the hue/saturation/etc in Photoshop Elements 3.0. I rotated the image a small amount, cropped it, and cloned out a shadow on the top right of the step (in the photo) and cloned out a white line across the top of the step. I then created a layer consisting of only the prism, and lowered the saturation on the remainder of the picture to make the prism "stand out" a bit more. (I found making the rest of the picture black and white made the prism look fake.)

Unfortunately, my reflection shows up in the glass pane at the top right of the image. I don't yet have the skills to remove that.

Nice shot, very creative, too bad the glass was so dirty.

I think you're clever to have found a "natural" prism and to have composed a decent photograph to display it effectively. Nevertheless, it makes for an image that doesn't stimulate any emotion or thought at all. Once you've seen the light spectrum, that's pretty much all there is. Do you think a human figure, or even a fragment of one, might have added something, or maybe you felt it would have just distracted? As it is, I'm stuck at a score of 6.

I think this prism is awesome. The photo would've benefited from a total crop right down to the apex of the prism, though. You've got it nice and sharp there and the prism is what makes this photo interesting. The buildings don't add any interest (in my opinion) because the glass is dirty and the focus didn't come out too well. But that prism, especially at the apex, is as sharp and beautiful as can be.

The prism is cool but the image as a whole doesn't do it for me. I don't care for the dof or the dirty windows.
