Challenge: Old and New (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: home
Date: Jan 23, 2005
Galleries: Vintage, Macro
Date Uploaded: Jan 24, 2005

This is my first entry that I "staged." My secondpick for a title was "In God we trust," but I was afraid it would be too contraversal. I used the 18-55 lens that came with the 300D Canon.

The old and new is not so clear for people outside USA.

Nice shot. The new gold coing looks a little off in color to me

Lots of coin entries in this challenge and I'm afraid your doesn't really stand out from the crowd well enough.

When your entry is so similar to so many others you really have to do something special to mark yours out as different and I don't think it's special enough.

Good lighting though. Must be tough to get the lighting right without being overwhelmed with bright reflections.

You must have a very nice coin collection!

The best of the coin shots IMHO.

Nice collage - and it's something a little different than the other photos in the theme. Fits the challenge nicely and looks like you put some work into this.

I like the apparent randomness of the change, and the different colors (with the dominant dark colors mostly in the middle, but also peeking out from some other places). The little bit of missing space in the bottom right throws the picture off a little for me. Was showing the reverse of the Connecticut quarter while showing mostly the obverse of other coins an intentional decision?

Very nice. My eye kinda keeps drawing to the empty spot in the lower right corner, kinda wishing there was a coin in just part of it. Otherwise, all is well.
