Challenge: Breaking New Ground (Basic Editing III)
Collection: Misc.
Camera: Sony DSC-F717
Location: Right infront of my computer
Date: Jan 17, 2005
Aperture: F8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 30 Seconds
Galleries: Abstract, Studio
Date Uploaded: Jan 18, 2005

I really like that GOD is hidden in the text. I guess you might call it a serendipity . Other words I found: HUG, TUY, RUG, VOG, TOD

Title Ideas: Finding GOD, Rainbow Alphabet, Confused, Rainbow of Confusion, Seeking GOD

Taken with a 30 second exposure, camera on a tripod, and a gradient set in photoshop and the reflection is caught out of the monitor and onto the keys. Moved the keyboard around during the exposure to get the multiple.

Yes, the gradient is set in photoshop on the computer monitor, and the reflections are caught on the keys =).
edit: Wrote it into the official "photographer comments" as well.

I think it means a gradient showing on the monitor, casting a glow onto the keyboard.

Are gradients allowed with basic editing?

I'm not big on religion, but the effect is cool, and it's certainly "new ground". Nice job. Seems like some different colors, like maybe blue and orange would have been more appealing to the masses, but the effect works and it's good there's a "message" in there.

This is interesting. The more I study it the more complex it appears. I still can't decide just how many "images" are here. Original and clever. 7.

Ok I found god but much more interesting was bxlnc:jnv. Seriously, though, this is an interesting idea well executed. It would be visually displeasing if not for the clever use of colour. The metaphor for ginding god is a decent idea if you're into that sort of thing. Sadly I'm not so it doesn't do much for me on an emotional level. Even so - 8 for a well concieved and executed concept.

Technical, Artistic & Theological...
The reflective green coloration on the left amplifies the conceptual emergence of spring, while the hues of purple to the right evoke transcendent royalty. The gradient holds in creative tension the subliminal GOD within the growth-green and HUG within the royalty-purple, allowing us a symbolic window within the subtle artistic tones, a dynamic union of celestial and terrestial, of immanence and transcendence, of intimacy and majesty. Truly breaking new ground!

Funny! And this effect works very nicely for patterned subjects like this. I bet it would look great on other subjects as well, perhaps with even more exposure. Very nice job!
