I know photos of children don't do all that great on this site, but this is one of my favorites this year!

*LOVE* the selective desaturization, his expression is wonderful, this really is a great photo, but I'm sure you've had plenty of comments to tell you so :)

Nice desat. Some blown highlights on the cheeks and collar, but an exceptional composition and must be a joy to shoot such an adorable child. Well done.

With his eyes that blue he looks like the spawn of satan. I like the selective desaturation look but would have scored the photo higher without his eyes looking that way. Awesome clarity. Good luck and keep up the good work in 2005.

Looks like a greeting card. Nice light. Bumping one.

I'm certain this will attract some good scores. Skilfully shot, but I don't find it appealing. I think the blue eyes contribute to that. Not sure about the background either.

Cute picture and the desat is nice, except for the eyes...they're kinda creepy. Might work if they were a natural shade of blue, but it looks like he's wearing those wierd colored contacts which doesn't seem right at that age.

what a great expression! you sure have captured a personality here. i bet he's going to grow up to be quite a man. i'm sure this image has brought about many, many smiles. hope you're getting some good comments, and that you're not getting overlooked in this monster challenge. good luck!

Very cute kid - I think I'd prefer it if you hadn't left the colour in the eyes - its not a natural eye colour the way you've done it (or at least it doesn't appear to be - I'd imagine you did this with the colour channels rather than the history brush) so that makes the image look slightly tacky. Other than that, the lighting is great, the facial expression is equally great and the image has little else to fault.

Selective desaturation in this case has failed. The over saturated eyes in contrast to the gray face seem doll or alien like. Do you wish to draw more attention to the flag then the child? By draining the skin tones the way you have and leaveing such vivid color in the flag this is exactly what you have done. If you had faded the flag to some extent and left the child with at least a little of his life blood the image would have, in my oppinion, scored much higher. Otherwise the picture has strong composition

great use of desat. Love his expression. Well cropped. In my humble opinion a frame might have finished it well. Maybe a small dark blue one.

The desat has made the eyes look unreal IMHO. The American theme has little appeal to me as I'm Australian. Nice photo though

i like this except the eyes are freekin me out..

very good shot, and from someone who hates seletive desat, nice use of it with the flag. But, for me the blue eyes kill it completely. Sorry. With normal eyes - 9, with spooky blue just 5.
I hate doing that but I am honest :D

An all-American shot. I like the selective color you used. Good choice for this image.

What a hero! Nice job using the selective colorization. Right side of the face is a bit too bright IMO. ....7....

Beautiful model and those eyes! Very nice shot.

Very appealing, nicely lit and done. I am of mixed feelings about the blue eyes. I understand why you did it that way, but it seems a little eerie to me.
