Challenge: Best of 2004 (Advanced Editing III*)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Canon EOS-10D
Location: My Front Door
Date: Mar 10, 2004
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/125
Date Uploaded: Jan 15, 2005

My youngest son looking out the sidelight by our front door.

I also tried this with a polarizer and while it did remove the reflections and make him stand out more, it removed the context of the wintry, cold landscape outside and made his presence much less subtle.

I like the asymmetric framing.

The reflection in the windows is distracting...use a circular polarizer next time if your camera allows it.

This would've been really good without the reflection. A polarizing filter would cut out the glare.

I've had to come back and study this shot a few times to really appreciate it.
The composition and details are good, and is sure to make a parent beam looking at it. Well done ((8))

I like this but I think it would have been a little better if the child's eyes were looking more directly at the camera.

what a great emotion you have captured here! i think the saddest part of my children growing up was when they grew too big to give me knee-hugs. hope you're getting some good comments and suggestions, and that you're not getting overlooked in this monster challenge. thanks for sharing and good luck!

The title goes well with the shot but I find the reflection in the window to be very distracting. Also the camera tilted sideways put a fisheye look to the doorjam and makes the picture look unbalanced. Keep up the good work and best of luck in 2005.

nice candid capture, but not really a condender amongst such other pieces of work.

Very cute - not sure whether the reflections help or hinder this one but this was a really great catch. Good eye to spot this kid!

Cool interlude of reflections and reality. Focus on the face doesn't seem that sharp.
