Shaw's Bridge over the River Lagan, Belfast. Taken late afternoon, I was lucky to get such great light.

I stood under the new bridge which was illuminated by reflections of the light cast upwards from the water. I love the light and shade on the beams. The old bridge here is framed by the new bridge.

Greetings from the CC!
Gerard, what a wonderful subject you chose. I love the juxaposition of old and new. You composed this image well to have the new frame the old.
The lighting is good here, so apparantly you chose the right time of day too, and the reflections work very well, on the new bridge, and the shadows in the water.
Your exposure is right on target. Details are visible, and there are no burned out areas or too dark.
Everything seems very well balanced, and symetric.
That old stone bridge looks very interesting and I bet it has lots of character too. One nitpicky thing is that the old bridge is cut off the top a bit way over in the left hand side. Tilting the camera ever so slightly may have corrected that, but it's no big thing.
This is a fine image with no digital noise, good focus, exposure, composition.
Good work!
Regards,

Grayce

Do you live in Belfast? My husband's neice married a wonderful fellow from Belfast. He lives in the US now, but a lot of his family is back in Ireland.

Great location and composition. I have trouble seeing the stone bridge with the mid tones so strong - it seems monotone in that region. Maybe adjust the Levels in the middle range. Still very nice.

Like the \'Before and After\' challenge from a little while back. Nice capture, and I like the shadows and ripples/reflection visible in the water.

Good stuff - perhaps a little too much of the present (though difficult to blame you with those reflections).

I like the effect of the reflection from water to bridge back to water. I also like the old bridge next to the dominant subject of your photo. I like the small touches of green in the shot too. Looking at this image makes me want to move to the right further to see more of the old bridge and have a few more bright colours in the shot. Maybe the bridge you are standing under is a little too dominant. Keep up the great work!

Beautiful shot! I love the color... the lines of the concrete bridge really draw you into the photo. Well done!

Nice idea, but the "present" bridge really dominates -- I almost missed the "past" one. Interesting take.

Good perspective shot. Interesting photograph. Nice exposure. You got both the shadow areas as well as the sunlit area correctly exposed. Nice work. Does seam just a bit soft on the focus side though. Maybe software sharpening could have helped with that just a bit.(?) Good luck with the challenge!
