Challenge: Best of 2004 (Advanced Editing III*)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: Aquarium of the Americas, New Orleans, LA
Date: Oct 30, 2004
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/15

Date Uploaded: Jan 15, 2005

A Tree Frog I shot while in New Orleans. Shot with the 28-135 w/ IS turned on.

I chose this one over the other 2004 photos because I thought with the colors and focus that it stood out a little more. I had a flower shot that I really liked, but didn't even want to imagine how many flower shots were submitted. I hope there's not many frogs!

Good use of DOF; the (alternate) title which sprang to mind was "Back Off!"

most aptly titled! excellent capture. the only two suggestions i'd make would have been to have cropped off the right 40% and to have slightly burned in the hotspots on the frog. i suggest the cropping because placing him further to the right would have him facing into the image as opposed out of it (and the right part really isn't adding anything). what a great expression! i do hope this isn't getting lost in the shuffle of this super-sized challenge, and that it is getting the attention it deserves. good luck in this and the challenges yet to come!

Cute little critter, looks almost toylike (in fact I'm still not sure it's real) all the same, I like the compositioon on this one - I wonder what that background is, it seems a little odd.

Nice job in isolating this interesting guy with your razor thin DOF.

Good macro but with very distracting background.

An interesting photo but the foreground (wood) is more clear then the frog. I also find the background very distracting. It looks like its a mirror or something similr but with a shallow DOF blurred. Nice try and keep up the good work.

Focus appears soft on the creature and is strong on the wood...background (or Bokeh ;o) is distracting to me. Good Luck.

This shots captures the intelligence I have never seen in a frog--what a grin.
