I agree with all you said. I was on a very crowded street and just stopped for 1/2 sec to point up and shoot. Didn't really set it up at all. A snapshot if you will. Such a beginner still, I just can't work that fast. ;)

I would like to see this shot aimed a little to the left and higher, so that the statue's hand and the church steeple were included. Also, the statue being white has led to it being blown out in its details. The rest of the picture could support these suggestions, as the right side and the bottom of it contain no details that are essential, and all of the elements are bright enough to stand the aperture being stopped down a bit.
