This is my first time submitting a photo on DPChallenge. I'm excited to see how I do.

I took advantage of the freezing rain last night to stage this image. There was a lot of ice falling off the branches as the wind blew so I grabbed a bunch out of the grass and ran inside to snap some photos. I just set up the pieces of ice on a white table top at work, shut off the lights and used a led flashlight for a lightsource. I set the white balance with the lights on so when I turned them off and used the flashlight, it gave it this really cool blue tone.

Final editing of the photo was accomplished in Photoshop CS. I used unsharp mask, levels and color balance.

This is a beautiful image. Very aesthetic shot indeed - great exposure.

Personally, I don't realte the title that much (but maybe I'm missing something) since I don't match ice to passion particularly. However, I can't bear to vote it down for that, so good luck.

Wow. Looks like ice burning downwards. Two oxymorons with one element. Great colour, I like the cold blue and the range of the bright and dark areas. I don't like the other...stuff around it, it's distracting (mainly on the left). Otherwise, and with a tighter crop on the right, this would have one more point. 9.

Has some elegance, but I think ti would be stronger for a crop on the right of frame - I rarely make these recommendations, usually presuming that the photographer has made a choice - but in this case it would be easily done, and would certainly strengthen the image in my opinion. The light is good, exposure, focus and all that is fine. Too much of a designer image to really get me going.
