Converted to B&W to avoid color distractions...

@200mm to compress the mist in the air and taken from a fair distance in order to, yet again, exaggerate the thick air.

Hello from the Critique Club,

General Comments:
I really like this shot. It is a little more busy than I normally enjoy, but I think that all the shadows and lighting are quite appropriate for this challenge since it helps hide the 2 figures on the path. I see some people didn't like the fact you had 2 people instead of just one, but I don't hold that against this shot too much.

Lighting:
I really enjoy the harsh lighting and shadows in this shot. Some of the trees look good semi-silhouetted along the path.

Focus/Depth of Field:
Great sharp focus over the whole photo. I think it serves the shot well since specific focus is normally used to draw attention to a subject within it's environment.

Composition:
I like this composition a lot. The trees leaning out over the trail help dull what could possibly otherwise be a distracting overexposed sky. I like the amount of the path shown, since the shadows in the foreground are interesting, and the two figures are right at the end of the visible path.

Color:
This type of shot screams for black and white, and I think it looks supurb. I agree with your own comments, that color would just be distracting here.

Keep up the good work!
-Daniel

Returning for comments:
I think I see two waldo or is it a waldo and a Walda. Bumping up, great low key study.

Very nice interpretation of the theme. Your subjects look natural in the picture and not artifically placed to suit the challenge. A nice picture in B & W as well.

2 waldos

I like the leading lines and the perspective. The vanishing point might be a bit father off. You might have crouched, and taken the shot from further below.
The shadows which come in from the right enhance the path a bit, which is a bit overexposed. It's hard to get this right in a wood, curves in post processing might have helped here.
By the way, there was only one person supposed to be in the shot. 8, nonetheless :)

this challenge is worded to mean there is to be only one person in the image, but i see two - so, i am just leaving this comment and not scoring your picture... it's not a bad picture, but it doesn't belong in the challenge, and i feel that it would be unfair to other participants to score it...

Beautifully murky, nicely sly waldo-figurtes in the shadows middle, had to look hard to dind them. Image itself is a tad too contrasty, I sish the shadows werent quite so blocked. Solid entry.

I really love this. I want to talk with you sometime about your processing of this image. My photo was taken in a similar "bland" setting and I tried for hours to achieve the feeling you've gotten here under basic editing. It is very nice and I admire your skill. :)

Lovely scene but I can't even get a glimpse.

There is only supposed to be one person per the challenge instructions.

A little off the theme. You see the people imediatly. Good composition though.
