Congrats on a TOP TEN finish Ben. I especially like the sel-desat without going all the way to greyscale, very tastefully done.

Powerful words this guy uses, very well captured! I think it would look better without the person in the background, I find him a bit distracting. Very good processing work too...

The border is kindof distracting, but it's a good shot.

Great photo and the dreary weather only helps the mood -- a ten!

I like the color contrasts and his expression really does match the sign he is holding - very nice

A slight rotation to pure vertical the pole would go a long way to putting a finishing touch on this shot. It seems selectively desaturated which I like, but wonder if the impact would have been more striking if you had left all colorized except for the sign holder. With him in the stark black and white, it would lend well to editorial commentary. A bit dark, and the walkman wearer in the background is a bit distracting, but overall a great capture. 7

Nice image. With the tones you have it might have looked better in B&W or another type of duotone.

My favourite in this challege. I especially like the selective destauration, it makes the subject "pop".

wow...

Selective desaturation choice works effectively here as your DOF was quite broad and thus the desat helps to isolate your main subject. This entry is particularly effective in meeting the challenge as there is an interesting story within as well as good overall photographic integrity. If anything, the overall exposure is a bit murky but in this setting works to enhance the flavor of the moment. Well done.

Great subject and nice capture of his sign which makes the photo imo. It seems a bit busy with the guy behind him and what looks to be a person beside him, but it is a candid so its not like you could ask them to move :)

Nicely done one of my top 3

In this example, the selective desaturation looks much more natural than in most cases. I think the figure behind the pole should be desatted also, though. The image is marred by not being rotated ccw to a truer vertical; it's so close that it looks accidental that it's NOT vertically aligned. I could wish for a little more sharpness too. A fine, gritty slice-of-the-streets.

I knew there would be a lot of homeless people on this challenge. I really like yours though. Was a sad message. Great shot.
