Beyond typical plane spotting lies the human story. I headed down to the Birmingham Airport viewing area with a 35mm lens, intentionally swapping my 600mm GM F4 lens for a wider perspective. By stepping close with a 35mm focal length, each frame anchors a real subject in the foreground against a plane grounded in the moment, capturing not just an aircraft, but the awe, anticipation, and connection of the people watching it. Shooting aviation wide-angle forces you to tell a dual story—where environmental portraiture meets the energy of flight in a single, powerful frame. ✈️📸
