The "House at the Sign of the Stag" – *Dům U jelena* in Czech – is one of the oldest townhouses in Vimperk, a small town in the Czech Republic.
An information plaque dates the house back to 1415. However, the paintings on the façade are likely about 300 years younger.
The image on the façade actually depicts the legend of Saint Hubert.
According to tradition, Hubert was a passionate hunter. One day, he encountered a stag with a glowing cross appearing between its antlers. This encounter changed his life: he turned to the Christian faith and later became a bishop.
We spent an entire weekend in this area – the nature is truly wonderful, and the history is very interesting. And the food was simply fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed the Bohemian dumplings and the roast beef served with the classic cream sauce!

A truly interesting piece of illusionist art. Now that I see this is one of yours, Barbara, I can't help but wonder if this is connected to regional iconography associated with St. Hubert? I love getting introduced to new cultural artifacts like this.
