A pigeon with its head twisted completely upside down a condition known as torticollis or wry neck—is a neurological symptom commonly seen in birds. It is often caused by Pigeon Paramyxovirus (PPMV-1), a viral infection that affects the central nervous system, though severe head trauma, inner ear infections, or vitamin deficiencies can also cause it. Birds in this state struggle to balance, fly, or pick up food, making them extremely vulnerable although this particular pigeon flew away soon after. Raising awareness about these conditions helps us better understand urban wildlife and know when a local rescue or wildlife rehabber might be needed to step in and help. 🕊️✨
