Man! I've tried processing this a dozen different ways and can't settle on any of them. So much want to like this but feel like I'm putting lipstick on a pig. Oh well. Spent too much time NOT to enter it now.
From Google Search :-D
Yes, bait cast netting is widely considered a recreational, skill-based activity and a form of sport fishing (or artisanal fishing) rather than commercial fishing. While it is primarily used to gather bait for larger fishing endeavors, the physical act of throwing a net is highly skilled, challenging, and often regarded as a sport in itself.
Why It's Considered a Sport:
Skill and Technique: It requires technique, practice, and physical effort to make the net open into a perfect circle, making it a "fun and challenging skill to learn".
Physical Activity: It is physically active, often involving standing, throwing, and pulling, which can challenge back and abdominal muscles.
Recreational Gear: Many states and regions categorize cast nets as "recreational gear" rather than commercial equipment, and you often need a recreational fishing license to use one.
Sport Fishermen Usage: It is the most effective method used by recreational/sport fishermen to obtain fresh live bait. |
