My wife and I were celebrating her new job on a cold Saturday noon in Reykjavík, Iceland. After lunch, we wandered through downtown Reykjavík, and this black-and-white challenge stayed in the back of my mind the entire time. I do not often shoot in black and white, so this kind of pushed me outside my comfort zone. What drew me in was this hard light from Iceland’s low seasonal sun and I liked using the black background to intensify the effect. Spring is on the way, though, so I promise brighter photos in the weeks and months ahead.
