During the January 19th Coronal Mass Ejection event registering at X1.9. Sending the fastest moving particles towards earth since 2003. The sky lit up in all sorts of colors. Lucky enought There was a gap in the clouds between rain showers here in Iceland.
Sorry for the flood of Aurora photos. During these dark months up here its the only landscape I can shoot during weekdays. Its dark when I goto work, and dark when I get back home. If the weather is crap on weekends its the only thing I can get.

Also the streak accross the sky is not a shooting star but a sattelite reflecting sunlight back to earth. This happens more often not long after sunset when the sunlight still shines on them in orbit altough its dark down here down on earth surface.

Love the color. The image seems substantially stretched (the clouds, especially on the right, don't look right, and the guys shoes look like size 16's - maybe they are). Would like to see the settings for this to capture the stars and streak in the upper right and to yet get decent DOF. Cool.

The image was not stretched but its shot with a 14mm lens which distorts elements close to the edge of the frame. I hope my wife in the frame does not read your comment though. She uses shoe size 6

Ummmm ... tell her it was a typo? Yep, that's what it was. Meant to say 6 not 16. :-)

Haha its all goood fun. In your defense she was wearing two down jackets and a woolen sweater, makes her look a bit beefy :D
