 Bavarian Christmas cookies – all homemade and most of them based on very old family recipes.

At the top you see four Elisenlebkuchen (a type of German gingerbread) with a chocolate coating, then clockwise: the cookies with the jam heart in the middle are called Linzer Törtchen (Linz tarts). Next come Florentines – these are almonds with candied orange and lemon peel in caramel (this year I also added coconut flakes and dried cranberries). In the bottom left corner are my family's favorites: Vanillekipferl – vanilla cookies that melt in your mouth! Then come chocolate diamonds – heavenly moist. The next variety is less traditional; I baked mini croissants with a pistachio cream filling. And finally, in the middle: aromatic almond slices.
