A bit of history: The town of Sandwich was founded in 1637 and was the first town on Cape Cod. A key reason for its appealing location was the presence of broad salt marshes, which were immensely valuable to the early European settlers.

Salt Hay Harvest: Unlike upland hay which required extensive cultivation, salt marsh hay (marsh grass) was abundant and could be harvested with little effort for livestock feed and bedding. The harvesting was often done with work horses wearing "bog shoes" to prevent them from sinking into the mud.20251218_121424

I always love windblown grass. This is very cool.

I love the directional textures of the grass and the glimpses of sky blue water. The row of miniaturized houses across the horizon is wonderful.

Very nice. The composition is quite excellent--makes the negative space super interesting while balancing it with its residential context and offsetting with just the right pop of color.

A beautiful horizon made of little houses close to each other and the adjoins tree.
Nice. Color and movement with a mysterious shape of the benefic goddess of the marsh

Oh, this is lovely. I can easily see why one would long for this.
