I am just getting back into photography after a rather long hiatus due mainly to health issues which prevented me from being able to handle my camera. I am beginning to rediscover the joy - in no small part because of this little 3 year old. We had planned the outing along the Colorado Trail on Mt. Shavano as a traditional visit to see the aspens. If not for the DPL, I might not have taken my "big" camera equipment along. This wasn't part of the league, but the league has inspired me to think about challenges again and to just take more pictures. I need to take more pictures. We took along two capes - a black one for the mysterious challenge and the red one for the color challenge. I learned that 3 year old children and dogs do not inherently follow directions. So it was a catch as catch can experience. I got the image I wanted for the mysterious challenge. The voters, it seems, did not all share my vision, but I don't care. I love the images I got as do the rest of my family. My granddaughter had a whoopity time and all is well. She absolutely loved being Red Riding Hood. Of course, she ran up and down the trail a lot, being super hero riding hood, and covered at least 5 times the amount of ground I did, flitting about while I huffed and puffed up the trail. The altitude in this spot is about 8000 ft. Her comment before this image was taken was "Oh Nana, you're such a Grandma". Followed in a flash by an "I love you" and "Huddy's not the big bad wolf" then "I don't want to go home. I want to live right here forever"
I hope the photos help her to remember the day for a very long time.
