 At the edge of evening, the forest lights itself from within, as if a lantern were hidden in its ribs.
Lisa moves through it as a clean silhouette, a safe shape the woods can study.
Needles shuffle like runes and a pale stag of brightness flickers, offering her the path that slips between minutes.
She steps forward, and the world opens like a book to the page that's been waiting for her.
