This is the Blackstone River, a few miles north of Providence, RI. The series of falls on the river are a significant part of the Blackstone Valley's industrial history. Just south of here is Old Slater Mill that is described as the birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. Originally constructed in 1793, it was where Samuel Slater first successfully implemented water-powered cotton spinning technology in America. Slater Mill is the beginning of machine made goods and hourly wages. We got a history lesson as well as a photography outing
