Get rid of the flash or go to an off camera flash.

A cut picture and it meets the challenge but the lighting is off and the picture is very small, use the max size allowed. Next time you may want to try placing your subjects in an area where the back ground would not be distracting such as about 6 feet from a solid color wall. It will draw the eyes to the subject. I wish you the best in the challenge.

too small. read up on how to resize for web use and get it to 640 pixels on the long side. small pics will never score well here - too hard to see details.

I assume you used a flash...the girl is a bit overexposed, the boy underexposed. the dog is OK...
