I'm not expecting this to do well, but in the spirit of the challenge, I thought I'd at least show the best I came up with.
I must have tried a dozen different forms of illusion, and this was the only one that came off halfway decently. The intention was realized perfectly, but literally my daughter only cooperated for maybe a split second here before losing interest in this game entirely. So while I wish the background were less busy, and I wish it were less obvious what surface my wife is standing on, I'm settling for the fact that their eyes are at the same level, and it really does seem to at least registers the initial illusion pretty effectively for most people I've shown it to.
At any rate, it's one of my more lighthearted portfolio entries. Some of the OGs on here might recognize elysei in the background. We were both active here on DPC back in 2006-07, when we were still dating in our 20s, but after an impressive stint as a pro wedding photographer in the early 2010s, she mostly gave up the hobby.
That's our youngest, Evelynn, in the foreground.
*** AFTER RESULTS ***
I definitely underestimated how this one would fare with the community here. I'm truly gratified others connected with the playfulness and illusion of this shot. :-)
Participating in this challenge has definitely given me profound appreciation for those who make this technique look deceptively easy. |

Altough the setup is somewhat familiar (I've seen a lot of it on the internet) is your version really charming and stood out from the crowd.
Congrats!!
I also love your backstory |

You underestimate your ability to amuse your audience! Very creative and the placement is right on. I appreciate your difficulty in getting the perspective and placement believable. |
