 I'm not sure, but I suspect people may ding me on this one for the subject's profile facial orientation. I had a few variants that were shot straight on, but this is the one I kept coming back to over and over again for its storytelling. It feels so much more authentic to the moment in time--both the literal date of capture and the threshold of this young man's life that this age represents for him.

This portrait is so endearing, the gentle side of a Cowboy and the warm edit makes it even better. One of my favorites in the challenge.

I gave the picture an 8 because I really, really like it. The profile view doesn't bother me at all. On the contrary: it adds an extra layer of intimacy to the portrait. Authenticity - you're absolutely right. I also love seeing his hand on the reins; it adds to the story.

I just wish there wasn't that other person in the background. It's okay since the hats don't overlap, but without it, I would have given you a 10.
