Challenge: Backlighting VII (Standard Editing)

Camera: Canon EOS R5
Lens: Canon EF 24-105mm f/4.0L IS
Location: Longwood Gardens

We stopped at Longwood Gardens on the way home from NY. The tulips were in full bloom. There was an event room that we stopped in to see. These young women were practicing their dance and they allowed me to photograph them. The occurrence was so spontaneous I didn't really have time to plan and just began shooting as they danced across the room. What a wonderful surprise!

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. This is one of my favorite pictures of all times as it is so different from what I usually shoot. The experience and spontaneity of it made it special. I had sent the young ladies the pictures I took of them and didn't want to edit out the 2nd dancer as a matter of courtesy. I didn't think to change it for the challenge so here it is. You are so right, making the edit made it even better!!! Thanks for the help:)

That is a really good point. There is a big difference between portraying reality and art. Thank you for helping me recognize that.

Wow! How perceptive. I didn’t see that!

This is a really beautiful Larry. I wasn’t really fond of the added dancer to the left. She could’ve been kept out but that’s not your fault….lighting was beautiful..

Congratulations!

I like this. I might have liked it more with stronger shadows, not sure....

Beautiful scene. The light coming into the window is lovely and really highlights the right side dancer. The right side dancer really makes the image and I think a solo picture of her or the two with the same poses may have had more impact.

My gosh this is gorgeous--and in exactly the way this challenge invites. Congrats on communicating the ephemeral beauty of an unrehearsed moment in an inconspicuous place.

Beautifully lit. Nice detail on the dancers, and it definitely conveys graceful motion.
