| Carsten - I had hoped this would place higher for you. I liked it very much. At times, I think the general viewing audience forgets that life isn't set up in advance for your photographic advantage. You did very well and under the circumstances, this is an incredibly well taken photo. I took a few shots during my father's funeral, but I was crying so hard, it was difficult to concentrate on taking the photo. There was also quite a bit of social expectations/pressure/confusion (in my mind), to not look like I was having fun (taking pictures) during my Dad's ceremony. A very difficult time. My heart goes out to you. |

Initial thoughts
Pretty composition, meets the challenge, feels backwards.
Composition/ Content
Well focused shot with good color but I think that everything draws the eye to the pinecone and the arrangement and away from the urn which needs to be your focal point to meet the challenge.
Background
The black background works well. A more somber cloth may have worked better, especially the patch of bright blue behind the arrangement.
Camera Work - Technical
Focus on the arrangement is good but once again the focal point of the urn is a bit soft. It should probably be the other way around.
Digital Processing - Technical
The photo seems to be cropped a little too close. I feel as if I am missing something at the top of the shot.

My Opinion On The Photo
I originally scored this shot a six which is on the high end of your score. I think that it meets the challenge well but could have been improved a little to finish even higher than it did. Good job, and keep up the good work.
BTW, I lost my Dad last year and my Mom two years before that. I sure do miss them, sorry for your loss.

| Beautiful arrangement, well taken photo, good focus and color. Framing - cropped the arrangement a little close, but probably to cut out other things. This pulls at my heart strings since my father died just before Christmas. It still hurts. Looks like a bit of a nasty stain next to the urn. 9 Swash |

| Condolences.... Very nice picture and lighting. 8. My wife's mom just died recently and I thought about doing this same kind of thing but decided not to. |
