Get more for your money with two, count'em two parodies in one! An ode to kiwiness and his creative sprit (and possibly the only solution to keep Gary from winning more ribbons). I chose Overpainted for my Deja Vu entry. It was fun and challenging to copy the work of one who I admore so much. While I like my entry, my lighting is pretty poor, with much harsher shadows compared to the original entry. My paint roller is too big. Also, my assistants (wife Dina and son Zach) are not as anal retentive as am I, so the position of the roller is not quite at the right angle. Hopefully the humor makes up for some of the technical deficiencies.

Some details: Black velvet on the floor for the background. Same basic technique Gary outlined in his original - painted a swath on the posterboard with the roller, then cut it out. painted the rest of the board yellow. I had to tape up the roller handle with blue painter's tape as my handle was yellow. I had overhead lighting in the room which I diffused with some rip stop nylon. I think my flash still caused the shadows to be too strong. I tried to get the crop and border to match the original.

This was fun, hope you like it.

Good job Dave, I thought this was your's when I looked through the entries. The harsh lighting on Dina's hand was the first thing I noticed. Great idea for the challenge though.

Well the face here does seem a little out of focus, but it's definately a great idea. 7.

HAHAH! I love it! If the person below was sharper this would be a 10, but it looks like some motion blur and the hand with the roller is a bit blown out, just a tad, an 8
