Overall I like what you've done. I think you could achieve an even better "balance" by flopping the right-most image so it more mirrors the attitude of the left-most; by cleverly making the center panel narrower you've rendered it less of a factor in that regard.
You might also play with the color of the lower part of the right panel to make it a little darker/bluer like the others; not trying to match them, but to be just a little less different.
One of the advantages of the multi-image composition is that you can make components which may have little interest by themselves, and make them incredible interesting by placing them in a context and relationship to each other. |

I like the overall colors of the shot but I agree with the others and yourself, I would like to see more details of the subjects. Everything else about it is spot on. Flows nicely and good composition. I wonder if these shots were taken hand held, or maybe the wind was blowing a little. They seem to be the tiniest bit out of focus, maybe im out of focus. Ill use just about anything to prop my camera on, even my foot if i have to. Then I set the timer just to be safe. I know this comment is not very helpful but it is what it is.

It doesn't really work for me. All three just seem a bit out of focus. My eyes just don't really like how the middle one is so much smaller. Sorry for my brutal honesty, really just trying to help (I know my opinion doesn't mean much, thought I'd share it anyway though). |

Very honest and well thought out critique. You're right, the lighting of the weeds is too dark, but you can overcome that with the fill flash on a very low setting. At the risk of blasphemy, I would also mirror image the one on the right to help balance out the shot.
You have done very well in balancing the weight of each individual frame and that is half the battle. I am not sure I know what you mean by the stem comment as I find the stem size vs main subjects to be very good. More stem might require a much heavier border set to bring it back into perspective. |
