I have been watching Blue birds for years in my back yard. I have noted when they begin laying eggs, how many and when they hatch. It remains amazingly consistent year after year. I have often wondered that even though the eggs are laid 1 a day they usually all hatch on the same day. It is because the mother (or father) does not begin brooding (sitting on the eggs) to keep them warm until they are all laid. In that way they all develop together!! I have taken many pictures of them and for all those concerned I do not disturb the nest and the parents are quite tolerant of me as long as I don't linger.

Precious, and thanks for the science info!

Also, a remarkably clean and neat nest!
