 We took Bogie home from the animal wildlife rescue where my wife volunteered. She was just a few weeks old. This picture was from the first time I saw her. We fell in love with Bogie the minute we saw her and knew we had to take care of her. She has been the subject of several of my entries in DPC over the years. When she was 12 years old she developed lymphoma which when treated with chemotherapy we were told could give her a life expectancy of up to 2 more years. We did everything we could to give Bogie a good quality of life and she responded well to the chemo. After 2 years the chemo seemed to be making her sick so we decided to stop it and give her prednisolone which helped her feel more comfortable and her weight stabilized. We found that feeding her 6 times in small amounts spaced over the night and day, giving her appetite stimulants and vitamins allowed her to be comfortable and act normally. Bogie continued to live a happy life and was a great comfort to me when I was recovering from a surgical procedure. Just weeks after my recuperation she began to lose weight and would not eat her meals. I felt as if she knew she wanted to stay strong enough to take care of me and when she knew I was OK she gave in to her illness. We did not want her to suffer and made the most difficult decision to have a pet euthanasia veterinarian come to our house and put Bogie to sleep in her own home. She lived over 3 years past her diagnosis. Pet owners know how hard it is to lose an animal that you have taken care of and loved for so many years. She was a joy to us and we miss her everyday. Here is the last picture I took of her a few days before she took a turn for the worst.
