Challenge: Broken (Advanced Editing II)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S7000
Location: Lovelady, Texas
Date: Dec 11, 2004
Galleries: Black and White, Rural
Date Uploaded: Dec 12, 2004

This picture was taken of a large hinge for an old garage door at my farm that has long not been used for obvious reasons. Taken near dusk with a Fugi S7000. No major adjustments made with camera other than focus. Used Photoshop 6 to convert to my personal settings for sepia effect. Also added film grain and extra sharpening to add aging effect.

This is one of the nicest 'way to small' photos I've ever seen. Too bad it isn't big enough to see!

What a pity it's so small.

Well, I know you probably heard this, but the image is too small and the grain is also a bit much.

This will get voted down because of size..which is a great pity because it is one of the best concepts in the challenge for me.

Oh, Oh, too small. But has a great look to it. Good luck

I know you're hammered because of the photo size. But it seems as a nice shot, the colors, grain seem to give it an aged look, challenge is met.

Kind of small and grainy.

NIcely shot - the echo of the shadow shape gives it some graphic appeal. I know a bunch of folks have told you to use more of the allowed file size.

Far too small, small images do not do well in challenges. Please use the full 640x640 we are allowed. Aside from that, nice tone, focus and good composition. Just a shame it's so damn small.

This photo is a bit too small to be seen properly.

Interesting concept but the photo is too small. The composition is good and the Sepia adds a nice effect.

Youl'l probably get marked down for the size of this photo as it's hard to get a good look at it...that being said, it looks like it could have been a great photo although I'm not too excited about the placement of the hinge in the frame. the composition seems to be lacking in this regard. otherwise, a great subject with great mood to it.

Nice photo, but too small. Increasing the file size might gain you some much deserved points.

Hi there. I'd like to spend some time and give you a detailed critique.

Challenge theme: Appropriate. Fits within the spirit of the challenge.

Technical details:
- Size: Inadequate. Please resize to 600-640 pixels in all future submissions.
- Focus: Appears to be satisfactory. Fine detail is present.
- Tonal range: Compressed. No tonal values in either extreme.
- Exposure: Adequate for given artistic presentation.

Artistic details: Your composition and framing works well here. The gritty duotone sets the mood. There's not enough pixels here to really give your photo the impact it deserves and can potentially impart.

Overall: This is a good effort which is unfortunately hampered by technical limitations imposed by the size of the entry.

Please try to make your images bigger. It's hard to appreciate any detail this size.
