I hope you all don't find this too mundane, or mark this down for cheesiness because of the smiley face. I've been wanting to do the trick of reflecting an image onto a shiny surface so I went for it here. Maybe not the best result, but I couldn't improve on it with my present skills :/

Egg on lightbox and lit by 50w lamp. Drew a little smiley face on a neon yellow sticky. Held that in front of the bulb, which created the reflection and also the yellow glow on the shells.

I love this shot, Very well done. The smiley face adds so much. Only problem is the little white dot above the right egg, my eyes were drawn to it :\. If I had voted, I would have given you a 9.

It took ages to see the smily face which is really cute! I thought the face was the shells as two eyes and the yolk as the nose and the white as the smile so its a double smily face. Beautiful lighting. Gorgeous simple and charming (not cheesy)!

I'm incredibly stoked about winning a ribbon, something i didn't think i'd ever be able to do here.
Thanks sooo much everyone for the kind words!

OMG, I never noticed the little smiley on the yolk, had I noticed it I would have given it a 10 instead of the 8 I gave. The smiley adds some personal touch to something pretty mundane. Nice shot and congrats on your first ribbon.

Bella: I now have to congratulate you on your yellow. What a gal! Believe me those are the best eggs I have seen. You added your signature to them in such a delightful presentation. Again, congratulations, you have scored sooner than I thought.

I was saying in the forums not too long ago that I'd settle for even a green ribbon for christmas this year so i got my wish! :D
Sooo close I could taste yellow though (no pun intended)...

Thanks so much everyone for your votes and comments, and I'm really happy with my best ever score and placing among such tough competition.

Sooooo close! Congrats on a personal best. There was a reason I marked you as a favorite. I'm amazed that you don't already have several ribbons, but they'll come soon enough. ;-)

Hmm... I was beaten by an egg. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

this is a great shot! I love the reflection, I almost didn't catch it. IMHO, I would have cropped the reflection under the yolk (on the whites) out of the shot, and also spotted editted that white fleck out, but that would have violated the editting rules. Awesome idea, and composition!

I really liked this pic. I would have liked it even without the smiley face, but the face was the added touch to make it stand out from the rest. Great job!

Well already decided this as one of my top picks this challenge, so in coming back to review and bump up I see the smiley face which UNhappily I missed before so...to make a long story short...10. Great Work!

I can see this ribboning. Very well done, very "DPC". Just noticed the little smiley on this round. Too bad about the hot pixel.

One of two personal favorites of the egg yolk shots. This is not quite an interpretation of the color yellow, since it is literally yellow. Excellent lighting and presentation otherwise. 7

Awesome photo. Clean lines, great color and even a little smiley. I can only assume that you have a little light in the shells to get it to glow otherwise how did you keep the light from spilling out everywhere?
