How do you do IR with digital?? Is this something unique to the D70?

Eric,

Congrats on the ribbon. This was my hands down favorite for this challenge the second I saw it. Glad you got a ribbon, even if it was for a DQ, but it deserved the blue IMHO. Great work!

This photo makes me go now and buy D70.
it's the best quality that camera can reach. very silky details.
i loved it so much. it's great shot.
by the way, very clever to choose B&W here. also very good choice of 10sec shutter speed.

Did I miss something here? You got third, right!

Originally I got 4th. The fish-eye pic of the Brooklyn Bridge by The-O-ster, was DQ'ed.

awesome idea -- the long exposure makes that smoke look almost like liquid pouring out of those stacks. great idea.

From your title I infer an infra-red shot ... looks great. Hope you had to drive a long way to shoot this : )

Great industrial landscape. Good to see a different take on landmark. I hope this does well. Excellent picture. (would do well in the 'wind' challenge also!)

Ominous to say the least. Should be a contender for a ribbon with its rich grey and black tones. Road leads your eye. The very BOL. 8 My only comment would be the spec (of light I assume that is in the tree line left of the cooling tower) keeps catching my eye. Other than that this scene sends shiver down my spine!

Excellent exposure. What time of the day/night? I like the tonal range and sharpness. Very cool infrared-like shot.

Very nice. The clarity is unreal, looks like something out of a science fiction movie. Love it!

Nice Black and White shot. The sky in the picture is very cool.

The long exposure on the cooling towers works well.. (I`ve used this technique myself in the past) The composition and tonal treatment also suit the image in my opinion.
Nice work.

Not enough contrast to creat impact.

Nice effect. The black and white brings a starkness to it that is kind of unsettling, in a way.

Very interesting. Looks like a timed exposure to get the smoothness of the smoke. Nice touch. I'm not sure if I would have like it better with a tighter crop. Visually it's pretty good but I feel like I want to be closer.

nice effect, the road make the towers look small, I know they are huge.

Is this infra-red? Might explain the long exposure. Great surreal effect and very well composed too.

I like this shot, it is very different. The effect creates a feel of the surreal, a bit sci-fi in nature.

My favourite so far.Great lighting, DOF & a sense of movement. The choice to go Black & White works really well here too.

I like the sky effect very cool. the compsition is just great, the road leeds you to the chimenys. Very nice indeed, keep up the great work.

Challenge link: strong - good focal point

Image critique: intriguing vibe, great lighting and strong, moody scene. Composition is good although a bit less road and more dramatic sky would be better. Title is horrid - too wordy and descriptive - sorry!

Out-of-challenge appeal: yup - I like it, so I'll be back...

I like this shot. The composition is a bit tense, the road leading the aye to the right but then the main subject is to the left, but I like it. The tones are good and it seems to me you have done a good job in the post processing.

This image is virtually flawless - I love the lines of the road, the contrast between the clouds and the pollution. Composition is great and the editing is brilliant. 10. (hope you win). One thing.... the title sucks :)...too long winded (hey I had to criticise something).
