 This was taken with a bulb exposure of 87 seconds in a dark room, using a small torchlight with a handmade snoot.
Steps as follows:
0) open shutter with remote
1) stand behind the desk, torch in one hand, switch on the light to illuminate the other hand and arm from above. First keep that arm steady and then start moving it around a bit, then switch off the torchlight.
2) repeat for the other arm.
3) stand to the left and illuminate the left part of the scene (tin and paper bags) and the lower right part (yeast, butter, salt) with the torchlight, then switch it off again.
4) stand to the right and illuminate the front of the basket from above to bring out the texture.
5) add a little bit of light to the background.
6) close the shutter

I had some doubt whether to do any further processing since it is quite clear and bright, but decided not to. In my view a technical challenge should be achieved in-camera whenever possible. I only increased overall exposure of the image.

This is one of those “sleeper” photos that took me a moment to appreciate- but I do. It has a lovely, ethereal feel, and tells a great story. Well done!
