A Great Blue Heron (Ardea Herodias) is sharpening it's beak on an available log in the early morning light on Luce Bayou in Huffman, Texas, USA.
After hurricane Harvey hit Houston I was itching to get on the water in my kayak because I hadn't been out in several weeks. As soon as the floodwater receded to a safe level I got out to shoot some wildlife. Here is the story behind this photo as well as the other two in the series.
I entered one of the other 3 from this series in the Reflections Without Mirros VII and got the Red Ribbon. That image I hadn't done the final edit on, this one is actually the only one I have done the final edit for. Once I complete all three (really need to get off my butt and get it done) I plan to print them really large (still working out the size) to put on a wall in my bedroom.
My hope is this one does one place better than the other from this series. Only time will tell.
Oh, I printed this 16" high (printer will only print 17" wide and I wanted some boarder so she could matt the print if she wanted) and what ever that works out as length (it's a 3:2 aspect ratio) on a metallic canvas paper for a friend of mine and it came out amazing.

Here is the other image from this series that I entered. Forgot to add it to the description when I entered the photograph.
