Monk tending the butter candles in a Tibetan monastery. Worshippers come through and add liquid butter to the candles so they never run out. The monks tend the candles and the monastery. I felt very fortunate to be on this trip and one of the more religious experiences of my life.
Basically a straight out of the camera photo, tough conditions with a moving monk in low light.
I've felt a connection with this area since I was 10 and did a book report on it. Going to Lhasa, seeing Everest from base camp, driving along the Tibetan plateau and getting to hike in Nepal will be a memory I'll never forget. I'd love to go back and bring my family.
