 Thought this had some potential but was never quite sure what to do with it. Now I know why I saved it.

No idea how it will perform with the collective because it is not what people expect to see for such a topic. But barnacles ARE animals. Crustaceans, to be more specific.

I did a little reading up on the subject of barnacles and learned that the snail shells visible in this photo are probably whelks, which are predators of the barnacle.
