Sunrise in my backyard. I saw the beautiful sky when I was outside with the dogs. Ran in to get my camera in the hopes of catching a flock of birds flying across the horizon. The intense colors only last a few minutes. No luck with a flock but I captured this single bird as it raced across the sky in the distance. I used my 100-400 lens but it was so far away it’s appearance was very small in the frame. When I cropped it in I was amazed how the noise created a grainy texture to the sky that looked like a painting to me. The dark clouds above and below seemed to highlight and frame the bird. I could not have imagined or planned the result. This is why I love photography.
