Sometimes simple can be interesting. I often wonder what the photographer finds unique about a subject that would inspire him/her to take the picture. Everyone has their own interpretation.
My opinion that the difficult lighting affected your image by creating a light contrast condition. Its always difficult to shot images from shade to light and this is just shy of being very good in those terms.
