This guy was sitting on a trash can. it let me get pretty darn close to get this picture. grey sky and ocean is what is behind him. Post processing was added contrast and topaz clarity filter.

I like taking photos of birds. To get a shot like this is quite good.

You've really captured the elegance, majesty and aplomb of seagulls, which we can forget when watching them squabble over a discarded hamburger bun. I like the positioning of the gull, with its eye midway and its body mostly to the right. Simple and striking.

Apparently, this guy knows his good side! Quite the pose, well-captured.

This is an excellent bird portrait. And he doesnít look cold at all - bare legs and feet, and not even puffed up t way birds do when itís cold.

Perfect view. One of those moments you're lucky that he didn't fly away and you took it!

We rarely see seagulls here in the mountains, and I think they are fascinating. I agree, it feels like you could almost reach out and touch him. Beautifully done. I never realized they have such cute knobby little knees.

Good for you Tammy! I hope you bundled up against the frigid cold while out there. This gull is beautifully captured, so real you can almost touch his feathers. What did you use for PP?

sheesh .. thats COLD .. !! ..
i have to convert your temperature to celsius to actually know how cold .. and thats -6c ..
i applaud you for getting out and taking photos in those temps .. altho i spose you are used to them ..
here in winter it can get to -3c or so .. and thats the coldest it gets in the morning before the sun comes up .. so during the day .. 10c is still very cold ..
so we're not used to the crazy cold temps you get ..
i hope the wildlife are insulated enough not to feel too cold ..
hope the fact that he let you get really close wasnt because he was frozen solid .. lol .. ;)
