Sextant, compass or something else? Wow this thing looks so mechanical compared to a simple LL Bean compass that it must be low tech! The detail in the surface scratching screams old. I like the very tight crop and all the impurities of the subject. The 40-10 area seemed too dodged or fuzzy as did the upper 1/3 and became a bit of a distraction as I continued to study the image, probably the only thing I would consider trying to fix, but may have simply been a factor of subject's age and limitation of macro DOF.

I love the texture of the old metal. The way you cropped this makes it very interesting to look at. My only nitpick is that I might have cropped a little bit more off of the top. But this is a nice shot.

excellent, would have liked it a little better if it was not cropped so much.
