Nicely framed subject, obviously low tech, well cropped and draws me to looking right at the subject. Had to work, just to view the surrounding environ and that is good. The chain pattern on the barrel is hypnotic if you stare at it (Moire?) but not distracting except that I chose to concentrate on it. use of black and white and the resulting border put some great finishing touches on this shot. Nice job!

Great smoky greyscale (with maybe a subtle hint of sepia). The angle is a little too skewed for such a mathematical/machine image. I would come a bit more straight on from the front of the side.

Ooh i recently learned something that might help this pic - open it in PS or similar and try USM of 30-40%, radius 60-70 and threshhold 0. It works well to remove 'haze'. This challenge allows advanced editing...there are things you could have done to improve the dynamic range of this shot - the sky is too light and some of the iron is too dark, losing all details. Try //davegage.com/mmc/digi-darkroom.html - ' shudder sharpening' - see my recent portfolio additions for what it can do. This could also stand to be a bit bigger - on height i try for 600 pixels (bigger means i have to scroll to see the whol pic so that is my boundary.)
