Although I had time to think about the challenge, I didn’t had any time to prepare the picture. So I submit a preliminary test shot. Sorry.

Greetings from the Critique Club
By Inspzil

Composition - This was tricky to see how it met the challenge. I had to look at it a second time (on 2 consecutive days) and now I see the point of it. I think as an image, its too much of the leaves thing. For the challenge, I think its pretty good. Not much else to say about composition at this point.

Technical - I think the focus is a little soft, especially on the foliage part of it. It may be the focus of the slide itself which would make it significantly harder to make a clear image. A couple degrees of sharpen in PS might help some. The exposure is actually pretty good. I could see the subject being exposed a bit more and the slide image a little less, but its not bad as is.

Overall - Not a whole lot to say about this image really (for this long-winded critic anyway). I genuinely like the idea, but I just don't think this came out near as well as it could've. As you stated though it was just preliminary. I think it met the challenge well but as strictly an image, I don't really like it. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful on this one. Good luck on future challenges - Inspzil

It seems that there were many who loved and many who hated this image. I thank you all.

Technically it was nothing more than a slide projection over the subject.

Poorly executed digital merging. The person's face is very easy to pick out, and the focus on the bg image is fuzzy.

Not personally appealing colorwise or photowise. It's too cluttered and busy, busy, busy. Wonderful job of hiding Waldo. Once you spot him, you can't help but see him clearly. But until you find him, it's impossible to see him. Great job of hiding Waldo. I just personally don't like the photo. As a photo it's a 3 with me. As for hiding Waldo it's a 10. So will have to give you an 8 for the challenge. But honestly I don't like the photo that much.

Good camouflage. Focus is a little soft. Not a terribly interesting picture but definitely satisfies the theme.

I like your concept, I just wish the picture wasn't so grainy/blurry.

I'm not surprised by the admin note at all. My guess is that the shot was taken through a piece of glass (or similar) with either a well placed reflection or a transparent print. The effect is really good. I like the fine black line of the border and the tree is well balanced and interesting to look at. Good work.

Nice hidding job! I like this very much challenge-wise. The color of the plant seems a tad dim to me, but it could be the plant. 9 Swash

Great hiding place but what effect did you use?
02/11/2003 12:20:55 PM
How did you do that? I am dying to know.

lot's of greenery but the superimposed face gives away too easily.
