Echoes of Thackery via Barry Lyndon? The candllight evokes that movie. This creates an certain irony since Kubrick bought a special satellite lens from NASA to do the candelit shots... But we have veered way far off course.

I like this shot very much. I wonder whether you considered trying to fool us into thinking that all the light came from the candle. While I expect that the shot would be impossible to execute if this were actually the case, I find the artificial light with its stronger white and colder spectrum to break the magic spell set by the candle, pen, and paper. I like the fact that we see the pen, but the lone bit of finger seems cut at an awkward place.

This is a good shot and its good to see it finished well.

If only Thomas Jefferson had such colorful ink! ;-) Nicely done - the candle flame is a little unecessarily distracting though.

A very nice image but I would have used a more rustic candle holder because guilding requires sophisticated procedures not associated with low-tech. Yet, this image has a nice feel and a nice glow. 6

I don't think Jane Austen used quite that color ink! I like the idea, but I'm not sure I like the composition. There's something weird about the candle, too.

With all the things going for this shot my only complaint is that the pen is plastic instead of the old fashion quill, or better yet, a feather quill! I feel either of those would have dotted the "i" and fit the theme to a '"t"! Still, nicely done. BOL

I would have liked to see this with an older pen and black ink.

Very good composition..perhaps a feather pen would have made the the shot more low tech..

Wonderful ! The writting goes well with the theme. GREAT composition. I would love to see this is a sepia tone.
