 This is the Triangulum Galaxy, and one of my favorite astrophotos to date. It's the 3rd largest member of our Local Group of galaxies (the Milky Way is #2), and lies about 3 million light years away. With good vision and a really dark site, it's the most distant object visible to the naked eye.

The image was captured using my Astro-Tech apochromatic refractor as the camera lens (644mm @ f/5.6) and processed from a stack of 80 individual exposures in Pixinsight, with further color and contrast editing in Photoshop, and noise reduction with Noise Ninja.
