In 1943-44, Ansel Adams spent time at the Manzanar Relocation Camp in Lone Pine, Ca. Because he was friends with Manzanar camp Director Ralph Merritt, Adams was invited to document the internees and life at camp. One of his iconic photographs, Mt Williamson - Clearing Storm was taken at the exact spot shown within the circular error probability of my handheld GPS. This was, for me, a bucket list photograph, standing in the footsteps of Giants, here is Mt Williamson - Building Storm. |
