The title is from Van Morrison's great song, "Brown Eyed Girl."
This stadium, Forest Hills Stadium, is a block from where I live (since 1997). It was the home of the U.S. Open (tennis, not golf) from 1915 through 1977. It hosted a bunch of iconic rock concerts during that time, including the Beatles (who arrived by helicopter) and The Rolling Stones. It was silent for many years until they refurbished it in 2013 as a concert arena once again. On this past July 26th I saw Tom Petty there. Van Morrison was here twice, in 2015 and 2016. You don't have to be in the stadium to enjoy the concerts, though you don't get the full feel. The streets are closed by the police. Children come out in the evening to ride their bikes, play ball, run around and draw all over with colored chalk. People sit about in folding chairs or on garden walls or on the curb. For one of those Van Morrison concerts I walked over with my dog to check it out. I waited quite a while to hear "Brown Eyed Girl." When he finally sang it I was disappointed -- it wasn't the original version I was hoping for, but a slower, jazzier rendition, without that upbeat immediacy. After about a zillion performances he redesigned it. Can't blame him.
I've always been fascinated by this under-structure and seized upon this challenge for a chance to photograph it. I don't expect it to appeal to many people, but for what it's worth, here it is.

I was one of your 8s. I think the monotone flatness is appealing and even with the alluding title, it feels very abstract. We'll done.
