This is the cover image for my on going collection on observation on spontaneous synchronicity, mimicry and obscure attraction between a viewer and an object of art.
It is part of my quest on "looking and seeing"
It is not a photo essay per se but I find this niche for sharing with you these fleeting moments.
On the thumbs please scroll to the right until I place them in the portfolio properly
Thank you for looking. I appreciate any feedback on my blog or here. PS. If possible, copy and cut comments on my blog. Thank you
You have really done it this time. You have so cleverly chosen the perfect photographs for this wonderful and funny essay. There are a number of photographs that seem almost too good to be true but yet too genuine not to be. Marvelous.
Have to add an important thing, since the word "patience" was mentioned in some of the comments.
I am an impulsive photographer (BIG word applied here!) to be precise, a point-and-shoot one.
I used a tripod perhaps 5 times in the last 6 years.
I am an passionate museum goer and an obsessive "seer". Camera in hand.
I see things quickly, I shoot, sometimes missing the crucial moment.
I thank you all for the comments
Most enjoyable series. Thank you for your eye and the willing to share. More often than not ars poetic (as in self referencing) art is too intellectual to enjoy spontaneously. I view yours as a counter example. Tahnk you and keep the good work!
Such humour, you do live a wonderland of opportunity. Je ne sais pas and spontaneous mimicry are favourites. I agree with Clive that you have a fabulous eye that is constantly scanning for those defining moments of relationships. I envy your opportunity of situation as I do Henry's. Lovely work as usual.
There seems to be something cosmic at work here as if your presence caused these results. Or is it just your all-seeing eye that recorded this perceptive and entertaining set?
Somewhere recently I recall a photographer who proudly announced how he waited sometimes for hours to capture certain combinations of art and viewers. Poor guy. I know yours were much more spontaneous and therefore magical.
An engaging and fun set of images! What patience you've exhibited; what forethought and trust in the inevitability of the serendipitous moment. Thanks for sharing them and having the inspiration to look and find them!
Wonderful! Impromptu theatre, hidden in plain sight. If I had a drum kit I'd award you a rim shot for every photograph. But I don't, so it's just thank you.
Mariuca, I find these relationships fascinating. The matching patterns and colors are particularly appealing.
Somebody wakes up, gets dressed, and heads to the museum. Walking through the gallery, something catches their eye so they stop for a longer look. Was it their outfit, mannerisms, or a personal characteristic that made them pause? Had they seen this painting before? Is a copy hanging on the wall next to their bedroom closet? Maybe it’s in a book, next to a clothing catalogue, on their coffee table? The possibilities are endless so we’ll chalk one up for serendipity. For the keen eye, they are unwitting actors in a story about to be told. The results are irresistible so you join the cast by making cameo appearance.
Excellent series! I hope you continue to capture these brief encounters. HCB says something like “life is fluid, life is once forever.”
this had me laughing with joy all the way through. the casual observer might not realize how you carefully processed each photo to tease out the synchronicity.
even as a jaded audience for "museum photos" you won me over.
and yes, to end with a self portrait where you play the same "joke" on yourself, is a magnificent coup de grace
